Die Struck Soft Enamel (Colored) Pins
Full Color Metal
The design is struck into a soft piece of steel that is then hardened. The “die” is then used to strike the softer metal to transfer the design to the pin material. The soft enamel color is applied by hand and sits lower than the raised metal lines giving the pin a textured look and feel. Soft enamel pins are the most popular type of custom made lapel pin.

Die struck metal pins can be made without any color applied. The pin has a metallic finish and appearance. Die struck metal pins can be sand blasted, polished or even antiqued for additional effect.

Also known as “hard enamel:, the pins are created using a die-struck process with the use of special colors containing a glass-like mixture. Colors are fired one at a time at 1700 degrees which melts the glass-like powder into hard solid color cells. The colors are flush with the top of the metal giving the pin a smooth look and feel.
